Senior Payroll Specialist (Europe)

Fiery is seeking a highly organized and detail‑oriented Senior Payroll Specialist to manage payroll operations across multiple EMEA countries. This role involves close collaboration with HR, Finance, and external payroll providers to ensure accurate, compliant and timely payroll processing. This role will also require ownership of payroll accounting and benefits administration across the region.
This role offers hybrid or remote flexibility depending on the candidate’s location, reporting into our office in Ratingen, Germany.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Operations
- Manage day‑to‑day payroll activities for seven European countries - Germany, Netherlands, UK, France, Belgium, Italy, Spain in partnership with internal teams and local payroll providers
- Review, validate, and administer payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance with local regulations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries
Payroll Accounting & Compliance
- Prepare and post monthly payroll journal entries
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and audit payroll transactions
- Oversee benefits accounting, including invoice validation, frequency checks, and contract compliance
- Support year‑end activities and statutory reporting requirements
Benefits Administration
- Manage benefits programs including insurance, social security, pension plans, and other employee offerings
- Collaborate with HR to develop, implement, and maintain benefits plans across EMEA
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with HR on payroll‑related systems, processes, and data integrity
- Support the EMEA Finance Operations Manager with special projects and process improvements
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in a related field
- 7-9 years of hands‑on experience managing full‑cycle payroll across multiple EMEA countries
- Strong understanding of payroll principles, regulations, and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of basic accounting practices
- Proficiency in Excel and strong overall PC skills
- Fluency in English and German
Preferred Skills
- Experience with SAP
- Additional European languages
