Fiery is looking for a Senior Localization Project Manager to join our team in our German office in Ratingen, near Düsseldorf. This person needs to be an excellent communicator who plays a strategic role by building relationships with partner teams to establish needs, deadlines and budgets. The incumbent will flex their project management skills to ensure that our localization process runs effectively and efficiently. The incumbent will be an essential part of the global, corporate Localization team, cooperating with Globalization, Production and Marketing teams while reporting to the Senior Manager, Localization & Globalization QA.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage localization projects from beginning to end, by working with internal business partners and external vendors, ensuring timely delivery
  • Scope projects, prepare localization packages for our Translation Management Systems (TMS), apply efficient workflows for projects
  • Act as a business and process improvement consultant across the organization, spending time with business owners and users, building knowledge about the overall operation and reaching agreement on strategies for improvement
  • Develop project plans and workflows, manage schedules and budget
  • Proactively analyze project risk, and define mitigation actions of identified risks
  • Troubleshoot and help resolve issues related to translation quality and production
  • Review deliveries for completeness and production integrity, perform QA
  • Perform linguistic QA
  • Manage and track budget process for localization projects including quotes, POs and invoices
  • Present regular reports to leadership team and peers on progress and forecast of project team’s work status, escalating issues and evaluating needed support
  • Continually expand knowledge and education in localization and AI trends and news, keeping up to date through active participation in training opportunities
  • Ensure team goals and KPIs are met
  • Be an administrator for our TMS (XTM)
  • Be the owner of Machine Translation (MT): Prepare training materials such as glossaries for MT, train MT engines and achieve better MT results over time (based on BLEU scores/third party review)
  • Evaluate localization technology like TMSs and other tools

 

Education Qualification: Bachelors’ / Masters’ Degree

 

Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Must be fluent (reading, writing, and oral) in English
  • Fluency (reading, writing, and oral) in other languages is a plus
  • Knowledge of reviewing and evaluating translated documents to detect errors in spelling, grammar, usage, style, tone, meaning, syntax, and terminology.
  • Experience in the supply or client-side translation industry within a project management/co-ordination or localization engineering role
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, adaptability, stakeholder management, and problem-solving
  • Understanding of machine translation technology and AI for localization
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat, html, xml), strong technical skills and knowledge (API, file formats)
  • Knowledge in Desktop Publishing and formatting skills (eg. MS Word)
  • Linguistic skills including ability to create glossaries, assess quality and completeness of translations
  • Advanced experience with translation management systems
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
